Interpretation Services
We provide an interpretation service where station staff connect via telephone to a contracted operator, enabling direct conversation with customers. The service supports five languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Thai, and is available at all Odakyu Line stations as well as key group transport hubs in the Hakone area and group commercial facilities in Shinjuku.
“POCKETALK” Multilingual Devices
To enhance services for overseas customers, major stations are equipped with “POCKETALK” devices capable of supporting 85 languages (74 with voice and text, 11 with text only). Even at stations without POCKETALK devices, translation apps on work smartphones are used for multilingual assistance.
“VoiceBiz® UCDisplay®” Transparent Translation Displays
In February 2024, three “VoiceBiz® UCDisplay®” devices, supporting 13 languages, were installed at Shinjuku Station (two locations) and Odawara Station (one location). The system recognizes speech in real time and displays translations as subtitles on a transparent display between the station staff and customer, enabling smooth multilingual communication without app operation.
Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center
Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center—in Shinjuku West Exit, Shinjuku South Exit, and Odawara—sell tickets, various discount passes, and provide baggage storage services for inbound travelers. All centers are certified JNTO Visit Japan Tourist Information Offices, serving as key tourist information hubs.
“Cotopat®” Subtitle Display System
In fiscal year 2025, Shimokitazawa Station and Katase-Enoshima Station introduced the “Cotopat®” system, which can be installed even in small spaces. It recognizes speech in real time, displays dialogue in up to seven languages, and can show pre-registered maps or videos relevant to the conversation. Displayed information can also be accessed later via QR codes.
Multilingual Station Signage
Station guidance and regulatory signs use pictograms along with multilingual text. Station names and safety-related facilities are displayed in four languages for clarity.
